Cleanup after a suicide
We are sorry for your loss. You should not have to clean the room yourself, and you do not have to.

The order of things
The police and the Sheriff-Coroner come first. Once they have finished and released the home, the cleanup can start. There is no need to rush that decision.
When you call, you can keep it short. Say that it was a suicide, which room, and roughly when. The company will ask what it needs to know.
You do not have to be there during the work, and you do not have to see the room before it is done.
What the company does
They remove anything that cannot be cleaned, then clean and disinfect the rest. When they leave, the room should look like a room again.
Ask them to set aside anything personal they find: letters, photos, phones, jewelry. You can decide later what to keep.

About cost
Homeowners or renters insurance sometimes covers this kind of cleanup. Call the insurer before the work starts. Who pays explains the other options in general terms.
Questions families ask
Can a friend or relative handle this for me?
Yes. Anyone you trust can make the call and let the company in.
Will the company talk about what happened?
Ask how they handle privacy. You can ask them not to discuss the cause with neighbors or others.
When you are ready, call
You do not need to know what kind of cleanup it is. Say what happened and where, and an independent company that works in the Riverside area will talk it through with you. Hiring them is your choice.
